The Women Film Critics Circle has announced its 2O21 Awards for the best movies this year by and about women - and outstanding achievements by women, who get to be rarely honored historically in the film world. Taking top honors as Best Movie About Woman was Passing. The film also won 3 additional awards - Best Screen Couple: Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson, The Josephine Baker Award for a film that most passionately opposes violence against women, and the Karen Morley Award for best exemplifying a woman's place in history or society, and a courageous search for identity. Kristen Stewart was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Spencer.
The Women Film Critics Circle is comprised of 75 women film critics and scholars from around the country and internationally, who are involved in print, radio, online and TV broadcast media. WFCC was the first women critics’ organization in the United States, and was formed in the belief that women’s perspectives and voices in film criticism need to be recognized fully. WFCC also prides itself on being the most culturally and racially diverse critics group in the country by far, and best reflecting the diversity of movie audiences.

Chloé Zhao’s “Nomadland” won best drama film and best director while Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” won both in the best motion picture musical or comedy category as well as best actor.
Chadwick Boseman won posthumously for best actor in a motion picture drama for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
The biggest surprises were Andra Day’s win for best actress in a motion picture drama for “The United States vs. Billie Holiday”, Jodie Foster’s win as best supporting actress in a motion picture for “The Mauritanian” and Rosamund Pike’s win as best actress in a motion picture musical or comedy for "I Care a Lot”.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 1, 2020 – Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate announced today that Zachary Levi will star as two-time NFL MVP and Hall of Famer Kurt Warner in American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story. The film will be distributed wide by Lionsgate and is expected to begin production later this year.
Screenings kick off July 1 and will take place every other week through July and August. Each week the movies screened will have a specific theme such as Movies to Make You Fall in Love, Movies to Inspire Your Inner Child, Movies to Make You Open Your Eyes and Movie to Make You Laugh. The list of double-features that'll be screened during the series has been curated by Jordan and includes Love & Basketball, Crazy Rich Asians, Black Panther, Creed and Do the Right Thing.

Jordan’s Outlier Society are launching “A Night at the Drive-In”, a nationwide summer screening series featuring a wide selection of films celebrating multi-cultural voices in cinema. In an effort to evoke the nostalgic joy of a summer evening at the drive-in with family and friends, attendance will be at no cost to local communities. Starting Wednesday, July 1, Amazon Studios will host double-features curated by Michael B. Jordan with help from his newly formed marketing arm 8788 and Outlier Society, every other week through the end of August.
